English Version
Kutsuzawa Lake is located in Shiojiri, Nagano Prefecture. According to local rumors, the area was once the site of repeated suicides by drowning, leading to stories that “bodies never float back up” and that the spirits of those who died appear in a nearby tunnel.
Some people who have visited the lake claim they suddenly felt unwell while there. Because suicides were said to have occurred frequently in the past, locals reportedly tried to prevent further deaths by draining the water. Even so, the stories say the incidents did not stop.
For that reason, some believe the spirits of the people who died there still wander around the lake and are connected to the strange phenomena reported in the area.
If you visit, treat the location as a real place rather than just a ghost story. Stay on public roads and paths, do not enter restricted areas or tunnels, and avoid approaching the water in unsafe conditions.
