Jagara Mogara is known for its unusual terrain and is often described as a “power spot” in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture.
Alongside its reputation as a curious natural place, there have also been reports of paranormal phenomena. One rumor says that the spirit of an old woman appears there.
In local folklore from Tendo, Jagara Mogara is said to have once been an ubasute-yama—a mountain where elderly people were abandoned. As with many legends of this kind, the story should be treated as folklore rather than confirmed history, but it adds a darker layer to the atmosphere of the site.
Jagara Mogara is located in the Nukazu area of Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture. If you visit, stay on permitted paths, respect local rules and private property, and avoid going alone or after dark.
