English Version

Old Wada Pass Tunnel is said to sit partway along Wada Pass, where the fog can grow extremely thick.

According to local rumor, drivers moving through the mist may suddenly pass an oncoming truck at a terrifying speed, close enough that it feels as if it might collide with them. The strange part is that the truck’s curtains are said to be closed, with only its lights shining through the fog.

The story continues that anyone who encounters this truck will see a small girl standing on the left side near the tunnel exit.

Locals say the rumor spread because people have reported seeing a truck they had never seen before on that road. For that reason, the tale is treated by some as unusually believable, though it remains only a rumor.

The tunnel is associated with Shimosuwa Town in Suwa District, Nagano Prefecture. If you visit the area, be careful on mountain roads, especially in fog, and avoid stopping in unsafe places or entering restricted areas.
