English Version
Nanbu Kyuryo Park is a large park in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, but among some locals and ghost-story fans, it has a darker reputation.
Even people who do not consider themselves sensitive to spirits sometimes say the air here feels strangely cold, or that the atmosphere is heavy in a way they cannot explain. Those who do claim to have spiritual sensitivity may find the place difficult to visit at all, according to the rumors.
The park has also been described in local gossip as a “mecca” for suicides. One particularly unsettling story claims that someone once died by hanging from a basketball hoop inside the park. As with many urban legends, these accounts should be treated as unverified rumors rather than confirmed facts.
Nanbu Kyuryo Park is located in Yokkaichi, Mie. The north zone covers areas including Nishihino, Higashihino, Hinaga, and Tomari, while the south zone includes Hagi and Kaige.
If you visit, go during normal park hours, stay on public paths, and be respectful of the area and other visitors.
