Midoriyama Pass: Yokohama’s Closed Road and the Rumored Motorcycle Ghost

Black Holes and the Event Horizon: Where Even Light Can’t Escape
目次

English Version

Midoriyama Pass is said to be a place where people have often reported seeing the ghost of a motorcycle rider.

The road is now closed to vehicles and has been turned into a walking path. It runs over a low hill surrounded by residential neighborhoods in Nara-cho, Aoba Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.

According to local stories, the road once attracted groups of motorcyclists known as “rolling-zoku,” riders who gathered at night and engaged in reckless, race-like riding. Rumors say there were many fatal accidents as a result, and several small memorial monuments can reportedly be found in the area.

Because this is a residential district and the road is no longer open to vehicles, visitors should stay on public paths, avoid disturbing local residents, and never enter restricted areas or attempt to ride on the closed road.
