Kitazakai Castle: The Lost Sengoku Fortress of Ishinomaki

Japan and the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel: The Mystery Behind the Japan-Jewish Ancestry Theory
目次

English Version

Little is known about Kitazakai Castle. It is said to have been a Sengoku-period mountain castle belonging to the Yamanouchi-Sudo clan.

According to local accounts, the castle was strongly defended and difficult to attack. Even so, it eventually fell after the Kasai clan used a starvation siege, cutting off supplies until the defenders were destroyed. More than 500 soldiers are said to have been lost.

The site is associated with Kitazakai Nemawari in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, near Prefectural Route 33. If you try to visit the area, stay on public roads and marked paths, and do not enter private property or unsafe ruins.
