Nishikigaura, located in Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture, is known in rumor as one of the area’s darker haunted spots.
According to local stories, anyone who leans even slightly over the edge to look at the sea may be pulled straight down into the abyss below. The place is also said to be infamous as a suicide spot, and some rumors claim that the number of people who have died here reaches into the hundreds.
These claims remain rumors, but the setting itself is a real coastal area with dangerous cliffs and steep drops. If you visit, stay behind barriers, avoid risky viewpoints, and do not enter restricted areas.
