English Version

Hirayama Castle Site Park in Hino, Tokyo, is known among local ghost-story fans for reports of spirit sightings around Saruwatari Pond inside the park.

One theory says the apparition may be the spirit of Hirayama Sueshige, a warrior active from the late Heian period into the early Kamakura period, who is said to have died under mysterious circumstances.

The site of Hirayama Castle is believed to have once held a lookout connected to Sueshige’s residence. Within the area are also places tied to his memory, including Sueshige Shrine and what is said to be Sueshige’s grave.

The park is located in the Hirayama area of Hino City, Tokyo, around 6-chome 35-17. If you visit, go during open hours, stay on public paths, and avoid disturbing shrines, graves, or nearby residents.
