English Version
On the Yunotake Panorama Line in Joban Fujiwara, Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, there is a disturbing story about a motorcycle that seemed to fall from the road and then reappear.
According to the account, a motorcycle riding ahead suddenly plunged off a cliff right in front of the witness. Alarmed, they stopped the car and got out to check the scene. But there were no skid marks, and neither the fallen motorcycle nor its rider could be found.
Thinking they might have been exhausted from a long trip and had simply seen something wrong, the witness decided to leave. But just as they got back into the car, a motorcycle passed by right alongside it.
The strange part was that the car had been pulled up tightly against the guardrail, leaving no space for a motorcycle to get through. To the witness, neither the bike that fell nor the one that passed by felt like a mere illusion.
The area is also said to have had many car and motorcycle accidents, and suicides have reportedly occurred there in the past. As with many roadside ghost stories in Japan, the details are difficult to verify, but the atmosphere of the mountain road has made the rumor linger.
If you visit the Yunotake Panorama Line, go during safe conditions, drive carefully, and never stop in dangerous spots or cross guardrails. Treat the area as a real road first, and a haunted legend second.
