This happened at my wife’s workplace. She works at a special nursing home for older adults, and according to her, many strange and unsettling incidents have taken place there.
Because many of the residents are elderly, some pass away from natural causes or old age. The unusual events at the facility are said to have begun about ten years ago.
Here is one strange incident that reportedly happened about two years ago.
The Bed That Moved by Itself
One night, one of my wife’s female coworkers was on the night shift. Since the residents are elderly, the night staff always make regular rounds to check on them.
That night, while confirming that everyone was asleep, the coworker also checked an empty room just to be safe.
Inside, she noticed something odd. A bed that should have been in its usual spot had shifted slightly out of place.
She did not think much of it at first. She simply pushed the bed back to where it belonged.
But the next moment, the bed moved by itself and returned to the place where it had been shifted.
Terrified, she called another night-shift worker and explained what had happened. Together, they tried to push the bed back into position again.
This time, however, as they pushed, the bed seemed to push back against them with force, as if it were trying to shove the two staff members away.
Both night-shift workers witnessed and experienced this strange phenomenon.
Frightened, they ran toward the entrance lobby, trying to get outside.
The Shoe Cabinets Opened All at Once
Just as they reached the entrance lobby and were about to escape, something else happened.
The lids of several shoe cabinets in the lobby opened all at once.
It sounded like what people often call a poltergeist phenomenon, though no clear cause was ever identified.
Afterward, the nursing home apparently took the matter seriously. A purification ritual was performed, and protective paper talismans were placed in the entrance lobby. They are reportedly still there today.
Most of the staff at the nursing home seem to know about the incident above.
But my wife has also experienced many strange things herself.
The facility is a large and well-known building in our area, so I will not give its real name. It is also a working care home, not a place for curious visitors.
My wife is sensitive to spiritual things, and at this nursing home she has witnessed several events she cannot explain. From what she has told me, most of them happened during night shifts.
The Beckoning Arm in a Black Sleeve Cover
One night, my wife was making her rounds to check on sleeping residents.
When she entered one room, she sensed the presence of someone other than the resident.
Then, right in front of her, she clearly saw only an arm. It was wearing a black sleeve cover.
The arm made a beckoning motion, as if saying, come this way.
My wife did not respond.
Some time after that night shift, the resident in that room passed away. The person was already elderly, and the official record said the cause was old age.
Whether the arm in the black sleeve cover had anything to do with it, no one can say.
The Floating Woman in White
My wife has also seen a woman in white floating in the air inside the nursing home.
This also happened during a night shift, while she was making rounds through the resident rooms.
She said the woman was floating about one meter above the floor. Her face was blurred, but she was wearing a white garment.
According to my wife, it did not look exactly like Japanese clothing. The sleeves spread outward in a bell-like shape. It was not clearly foreign clothing either, but it also did not seem like a normal Japanese kimono.
The resident in the room where she saw the woman later passed away.
Whether there was any connection is impossible to know now.
Of course, my wife cannot casually tell her coworkers or the other staff about everything she has experienced. Stories like this spread quickly.
And if people began to wonder whether unexplained phenomena might be connected to the deaths of residents, that would not be something to speak about lightly.

私の妻の職場のことです。妻は特別養護老人ホームに勤めているのですが そこで、奇々怪々な出来事が数多く起こるのです。ご高齢の利用者さまが多く、老衰で亡くなられる方も いらっしゃいます。奇々怪々な出来事は10年ほど前から起こり始めたようです。先ずは、2年くらい前に起きた奇妙な現象から…。。ベッドが動く…！。妻の同僚（女性）が夜勤をしていた時のことです。高齢者が多いため、必ず夜勤者は巡回を欠かさないそうです。その日の夜も、利用者さんの就寝を確かめるために巡回していた時のこと… 同僚は、空き部屋の病室も念のためにチェック。
…すると、不思議な事にいつもの場所にある ベッドが少しズレていたのです。特に気にも留めず、同僚が定位置に戻すべく ベッドをもとの位置に戻しましたが…なんと次の瞬間、 ベッドが、ひとりで動いて、ズレていた場所に戻ったのです。…恐ろしくなった同僚は、それでも他の夜勤者を呼び、 事情を話し、再びズレたベッドをふたりで押し戻すことに。しかし、押して定位置に戻そうとすると 今度は、ベッドが…ふたりを押し戻そうと、こちら側に力ずくで 押し返そうとするのです。
…こんな奇怪な現象を、夜勤者ふたりが目撃・体験したのです。恐ろしくなったふたりは、外へ逃げるべく、建物の玄関ロビーへ走るのですが…。玄関ロビーの靴箱が一斉に開く…！。。出口である玄関ロビーまでたどり着き、外へ逃げようとしたその時！玄関ロビーにあるいくつもの靴箱のフタが、一斉に開く現象が…！！。俗にいう、ポルターガイスト現象だと思われますが、 原因がハッキリしないため、そののち、この事態を重くみた特別養護老人ホームは お祓いをして、玄関ロビーには、お札が張られています、今も。
…上記は、特別養護老人ホームのスタッフは、ほぼ知っていることですが 実は、妻が体験した奇妙な出来事も数多くある のです。この特別養護老人ホームは 私の住む地域でも名の知れた大きな建物ですから、実名は控えますが 妻が体験した奇妙な出来事もいくつかお話したいと思います。私の妻は…霊能力、つまり霊感が高く、この特別養護老人ホームでも 説明できない現象を目の当たりにしています。聞けば、そのほとんどは夜勤中に起きた出来事のようです。手招きする、黒い腕カバーの腕！
。。妻が夜勤時に、就寝されている利用者様を確認しに行った時のことです。その病室に入ると、利用さまとは別に人の気配を感じたそうです。すると、眼前に… 腕だけが、黒い腕カバーをした状態でハッキリと現れた（見えた）のです。その、腕は妻に対して、手招き…「 こっちへおいで 」のようなしぐさをしたそうですが 妻は応えなかったとのこと。夜勤後、しばらくしてから、その病室の利用者さまは亡くなられたそうです。もともと高齢者でしたので、老衰で亡くなったという記録ですが…。
その、黒い腕カバーの腕が、利用者さまを連れて行ったかどうかは、わかりません。宙に浮く白装束の女性。この特別養護老人ホームで、複数の奇妙な出来事を体験している妻は …宙に浮く白装束の女性も見ています。やはり、夜勤中の出来事で、病室を巡回したさい… 1メートルほど、宙に浮いている白い着物を着た女性がいた と。女性の顔は、ぼやけていたそうですが その白い着物は、日本のものとは言えず、袖がラッパ状に広がっていたそうです。外国の服とも日本の着物とも言い切れない、そんな白い衣服を着た女性を見た部屋の 利用者さまは、亡くなられたとのこと。
何かしら関係があったかどうかは 今となってはわかりませんが…。…もちろん、妻が体験した奇妙な出来事を同僚やスタッフに話すことは出来ません。何故なら、こういう話はすぐに広まるものです、しかも…もし 怪奇現象が原因で 利用者さまが亡くなられたかも知れない 、そう考えると、話すべきことではありませんので
