English Version
Morikawa Park is located at 1-24-1 Mashiki, Ginowan City, Okinawa Prefecture. It is known not only as a local park, but also as a sacred place connected to Okinawan spiritual practice.
People who claim to be sensitive to spirits say that when they approach the area, they may feel headaches or a heavy sensation in their shoulders. Rumors also speak of the spirits of multiple Japanese soldiers appearing here, and of a large hole said to be impossible to escape from if someone falls in.
Morikawa is also said to be one of the three major training sites for yuta, Okinawan spiritual practitioners, and some people still come here to pray. In the past, signs reportedly warned visitors that the area beyond was a spiritual zone and off-limits.
The site has also been associated with a brutal murder involving a couple, adding to its unsettling reputation.
Because this is a real location and a sacred place for some worshippers, visitors should be respectful. Do not enter restricted areas, disturb anyone praying, or explore unsafe terrain, especially around holes, slopes, or secluded areas.
