Suimei Communal Cemetery is a cemetery located along Shikotsuko-dori in Chitose, Hokkaido. It is known in local ghost-spot circles for stories connected to mizuko spirits—spirits associated with children who died before or shortly after birth—and is said to be a place where mizuko memorial rites are well known.
According to rumors, visitors have reported hearing the sound of a baby crying near the cemetery. Some stories also claim that people may become possessed or affected by mizuko spirits, though these accounts remain local legend rather than verified events.
There are also reports of strange marks appearing on cars, including stories of small child-sized handprints found on vehicle windows.
As this is an active cemetery and a place of mourning, anyone visiting should be respectful, avoid entering restricted areas, keep noise down, and never trespass or disturb graves or offerings.
