Ube-Shinkawa Station: The Rumored Old Woman in White

Can Visualization Make Wishes Come True? The Law of Attraction and Affirmations in Japan’s Spiritual Scene

English Version

At Ube-Shinkawa Station, there is a rumor that an elderly woman dressed in white appears on the platform.

No major fatal accidents or similar incidents are especially associated with the station. Instead, the story is said to come from the land’s older history. Before Ube-Shinkawa Station was built, the area was reportedly home to a small settlement.

According to the rumor, the woman may be a lingering presence tied to that time—a spirit unable to move on because of happy memories and the comfort she once felt living there.

Ube-Shinkawa Station is located at 1-7-7 Uemachi, Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. If you visit, remember that it is an active public station: be respectful of commuters, follow railway rules, and never enter restricted areas.
