English Version

Old Sekiyama Tunnel is said to be a place where the spirits of people who died in an accident during construction still gather.

According to the local story, the spiritual energy around this area is unusually strong. Even people who do not consider themselves sensitive to the supernatural are said to feel physical effects here, such as sudden chills or nausea.

At the time of construction, workers reportedly used explosives to break through the mountain. The legend says that, due to carelessness on the job site, a large amount of nearby gunpowder caught fire, killing more than 25 workers.

The site is associated with the Sakunami Kaido in Aoba Ward, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. If you visit the area, do so safely: avoid entering closed tunnels or restricted zones, follow all posted signs, and be mindful of traffic and mountain road conditions.
