Reports like these have appeared in different parts of the world, describing gold-colored flakes, wires, and even needles emerging from the skin. Whether these cases are misunderstood medical conditions, hoaxes, folklore, or something stranger, they remain unsettling stories in the world of the unexplained.
The Woman Said to Produce Gold Leaf
One often-cited case involves a woman named Katie, who lived in Florida. According to the story, when she concentrated deeply, she could enter an unusual mental state. During that state, thin gold-colored flakes were said to appear from places such as her mouth, cheeks, chest, abdomen, and legs.
Researchers reportedly analyzed the metal that came from her body and found that it was not pure gold. Instead, it was said to be 98% copper and 2% zinc.
So why would gold-colored metal appear from her body at all?
One researcher speculated that Katie’s Cherokee ancestry might have something to do with it. The Cherokee people are often associated in such accounts with nature worship and spiritual power, and some stories even claim that certain members possessed supernatural abilities.
Could Katie have inherited some mysterious power connected to her ancestry? That is how the legend frames it, though no clear scientific cause has been confirmed.
The Woman Who Produced Wires
Not every reported case involves a person controlling the phenomenon. Some stories describe people suffering because metal appears against their will.
One such case concerns a woman named Norsyadia from East Kutai, Indonesia. In 1991, she reportedly found a wire suddenly emerging from inside her body. At first, there was only one. After about a week, it apparently fell out on its own.
But one month later, multiple wires began appearing around her navel.
Her older sister, alarmed by the change, tried cutting them off. According to the account, however, they quickly grew back.
Doctors examined Norsyadia and took X-rays. The strange conclusion was that the wires had not been inserted into her body from the outside. Instead, they appeared to be coming from inside and breaking through the skin.
Because the wires pierced the skin as they emerged, the process caused sharp pain and disrupted her daily life. She visited several hospitals, but because the phenomenon was so unusual, doctors reportedly could not identify a cause or find a way to stop it.
The Woman Said to Produce Needles
Another disturbing case comes from Brazil. A woman named Beneditta Jarvis was examined after X-rays of her leg revealed numerous needles embedded in the flesh.
According to the story, the needles were not placed there by hand. They were said to form naturally inside her body, then push outward through the skin.
When asked why this was happening, Beneditta reportedly gave a chilling answer: she believed she had been cursed by a form of black magic known as the “Devil’s Needles.”
In the past, her father had argued with a man said to be a black magician. As the man left, he reportedly warned that something terrible would happen.
That very night, the story says, a needle emerged from Beneditta’s nostril.
From then on, countless needles continued to appear from her body. Strangely, although she felt pain when the needles emerged, she reportedly did not suffer symptoms such as internal bleeding, and her overall health was said to remain normal.
Was it truly a curse from the black magician? And why would an innocent woman have to suffer such a bizarre condition? The story offers no certain answer.

「体に異変が起こっている」。と考えた彼女の姉がカットをしたのだが、後からすぐに生えてきてしまうのでした。彼女を診察した医師がレントゲンを撮って調べてみたところ、 ワイヤーは身体に刺されたものではなく、身体の中から皮膚を突き破って出てきている ことがわかったのです。皮膚を突き破って出てくるため、もちろん鋭い痛みなどを感じていて、生活にも支障が出ているのです。いくつもの病院を回ったが、前代未聞の奇妙な現象なため原因はわからず、改善方法もわかっていないのです。
針を身体から出現させる人間。ブラジルのベネディッタ・ジャービスという女性は足の肉の中をレントゲンで撮って診察してみたところ何本もの針が埋まっていることがわかったのです。この針は、 身体の中から自然に生まれて、皮膚を突き破って身体の外に飛び出している のです。なぜ、こんなことになったのかと彼女に聞いてみると、こんなことをつぶやいたのです。「自分は悪魔の針という黒魔術にかけられた」。過去に、彼女の父親が「黒魔術師」と呼ばれる男と口論をしたことがあったのです。
その時、男が「きっと恐ろしいことが起こる」と言い残し去っていったそうです。そして、 早くもその晩に、彼女の鼻の穴から針が飛び出した のです。それ以来彼女の身体からは無数の針が飛び出し続けているのです。不思議なのは、針が出現する際は、「ワイヤーを身体から出す人間」と同じで痛みも伴うが、内出血といった症状もなく、身体はいたって健康なのです。この奇妙な現象は「黒魔術師」の呪いなのでしょうか？。なぜ罪もない彼女がこのような症状に合わなければいけなかったのでしょうか？
