Unosu Cliffs, located in the Makizawa area of Tanohata Village in Iwate Prefecture, are said to have a grim reputation as a place associated with deaths by jumping.
According to local rumors, visitors who go there at night may feel as if they are being watched in the parking lot. Others claim to have heard strange groaning sounds, seen a black shadow standing nearby, or felt something grab their legs near the observation area.
As with many cliffside locations, caution is essential. If you visit, stay within designated areas, do not cross barriers, avoid going at night or in bad weather, and keep a safe distance from the edge.
