English Version
In Tokiwa, Iiyama City, Nagano Prefecture, there is said to be the former site of a crematorium from a time when cars were still rare in Japan.
Where the crematorium building once stood, several stone monuments are now enshrined. Over the years, rumors and witness accounts have attached themselves to the place. One story claims that the ghost of a young girl was seen trying to stop a taxi.
Another account tells of a boy who took a family photograph at the old crematorium site. When the picture was developed, three ghostly figures resembling fallen samurai were allegedly visible in the image.
After that, misfortunes were said to have begun occurring around the boy, including the death of his father.
As with many local ghost stories, these accounts remain rumors rather than verified events. If visiting the area, be respectful of local residents, monuments, and any restricted or private property.
