This idea is close to the Gaia Theory introduced on this site before: could ley lines be places where the Earth’s energy gathers—in other words, power spots?
Here, the term “ley line” goes far beyond Watkins’s original idea of intentional straight lines created by civilization. In this interpretation, ley lines are more like energy currents running not only across the surface of the Earth, but underground and through the planet as a whole. Around the world, many places are called power spots because they are believed to be where that energy gathers.
Ancient Knowledge and Underground Lines
Could feng shui, directional studies, and ancient astronomy have been forms of knowledge used to observe these forces from the surface?
There are ancient sites all over the world—from distant Easter Island to Europe, and even Japan—that suggest cultures once revered megaliths and giant stones. Some of these surviving ruins appear connected on the surface as ley lines, but another theory suggests they may actually be connected underground.
According to this idea, the locations of these massive ruins overlap with underground lines sometimes called power grids or the world grid. It is said that forces such as repulsion, attraction, and weight or gravity are intertwined there in more complex ways than in other places.
Pyramids, Machu Picchu, and Japan
When speaking of giant ruins, the three great pyramids of Egypt are often discussed in connection with ley lines. Peru’s Machu Picchu is another example that is frequently mentioned.
And pyramid culture was not limited to Egypt. Many pyramid-like ruins remain around the world, and in Japan as well, there are several sites that some people believe may be pyramids. Looking at these similarities, perhaps pyramids were structures with a special meaning beyond simply being tombs.
Then there is the relationship between ruins and the position of the sun.
Sun Worship and the Stars
Many people who lived during the eras when ancient ruins were built clearly left traces of sun worship. Alongside devotion to the sun, they also seem to have placed great importance on the movement of the stars—in other words, astronomy.
One theory claims that the arrangement of the three great pyramids was created to match the layout of Orion’s Belt, and the similarity in their positioning is well known. The temples and pyramids of Teotihuacan in Mexico are also said to follow a pattern similar to Orion.
Egyptian civilization and the civilizations of Mexico developed in very different places, but it is possible that the objects of worship they focused on were similar.
At Stonehenge in England, the sun rises from the center of the monument on the summer solstice. At Karnak Temple in Egypt, the sun can be seen in the center of the site on the winter solstice. Many other ruins are also said to have been built around the sun, and Japan’s highest deity, Amaterasu Omikami, is a symbol of sun worship.
In this way, ancient peoples from very different civilizations and regions may have shared a similar focus on the sun as an object of worship.
But the mystery continues.
In short, ancient temples and sacred places—sites tied to both astronomy and belief—seem to have been built in similar positions across the Earth, almost as if they had been planned according to the same pattern.
The Mystery of the World Grid
This may be the central point of the so-called world grid theory. Circumstantial evidence suggests that ancient people chose specific locations for worship. That is also what Watkins first noticed as ley lines: the straight-line alignment of ruins.
But the question goes deeper than that. Why were these ruins built exactly where they are?
Unless that mystery is solved, the true landscape of the ancient world may never fully return to us.
The idea of an energy net stretching around the entire Earth remains unanswered. There is still no clear solution to this enormous mystery.
At the very least, ancient people may have shared some kind of awareness that went beyond region and civilization. Was it the power spots scattered across the planet, as described by the world grid theory? Or was it something else entirely?
Perhaps, for those of us living in the modern age, there is no longer any way to know.
If you visit ancient ruins, sacred places, or archaeological sites connected to these legends, respect local rules, stay on marked routes, and never enter restricted or unsafe areas.

以前に当サイトでも紹介した 「ガイア理論」 に近い考え方ですが、 レイラインとは地球エネルギーの集まる場所、すなわちパワースポットではないのか？という説があります。ここで言うレイラインとは、ワトキンスが主張した、「意図した文明の直線」というものを大きく超えた考え方であり、それも地上から地下、地球全体を走るエネルギーの線のようなものです。世界各地に「パワースポット」と呼ばれる場所はありますが、これらはそのエネルギーが集まる場所であると考えられているからです。
風水や方位学、古代天文学などは地上からそれらを観測するための知恵であったのではないでしょうか？。地下に張り巡らされたレイライン。。遠くはイースター島、ヨーロッパ、そして我々の住む日本においても巨石を信仰する文明があったことを示す遺跡が世界各地に点在しています。現代にまで残るこれら遺跡の一部は地上ではレイラインとして繋がりを見せますが、実は地下で繋がっているのではないか？という考え方があります。これらの巨大な遺跡の場所はパワーグリッドやワールドグリッドと呼ばれる地下のラインに重なっていて、斥力や引力、重量が他の場所よりも複雑に絡み合っているそうです。
巨大な遺跡という意味では、レイラインとして考察したエジプトの三大ピラミッド、他にもペルーのマチュピチュ遺跡などが挙げられます。加えて、ピラミッド文明はエジプトだけの物ではありません。。世界各地にはピラミッドは沢山遺跡として残っていますし、日本においてもピラミッドだと見られている遺跡は数多くあります。これらの共通点から考えると、 ピラミッドという文明はお墓である意外の何か特別な意味を持った建造物 なのかも知れません。太陽の位置と遺跡の関係。
。古代遺跡が作られたという時代に生きた人々の多くは、明らかに「太陽信仰」の形跡を残しています。そして、太陽信仰と同じく、星の動き、つまり天文学にも重きを置いていたようです。三大ピラミッドの位置関係は、「オリオン座」の配置に沿って作られているという説もあり、実際に星との位置関係が非常に近いことで知られています。そしてメキシコにあるテオティワカンの神殿とピラミッドの位置関係もオリオン座と同じような配列になっているのです。エジプト文明とメキシコでは本来、文明の発祥が全く異なりますが、信仰の対象は同じであった可能性があります。
さらにイギリスのストーンヘンジでは夏至の日に遺跡の中央から太陽が昇り、エジプトのカルナック神殿では冬至の日に遺跡の中央に太陽が見えます。他にも太陽を中心とした遺跡は数多くあると言われており、日本の最高神である天照大神も太陽信仰の象徴です。このように、 文明や地域が全く違っているはずの古代人達は、同じ様に太陽を中心にした信仰の対象としていた可能性が高い のです。問題は、まだ続きます。要するに、これらの 古代神殿、信仰をする場所として設けられた遺跡（天文学と信仰）に示し合わせたかのように「地上で同じような位置に遺跡が造られてきた」 。
この部分が、いわばワールドグリッドという考え方の1番のポイントだと言えるでしょう。彼らが信仰をするために、場所を選んでいたことは最早状況証拠が示しています。それが、ワトキンスが始めに発見したレイラインであり、遺跡の直線化です。しかし、それだけではなく、 何故これらの遺跡はそこにあるのか？。この謎を解かなければ本当の意味での古代の風景は蘇ることはないでしょう。。地球全体を回るエネルギーの網。未だにこの大きな謎に対して明確な答えは出ていませんが。
少なくとも古代の人達には、地域や文明とは別の共通した意識があったのかも知れません。それがワールドグリッド説による地球全体に点在するパワースポットなのか？それとも別の何かなのか？。もはや現代の私達には知る術がないのかも知れません
