Oizumi Ryokuchi is a huge green park in Osaka, planted with around 320,000 trees from about 200 species. Throughout the year, it draws both local residents and visitors as a popular place to relax.
During the day, the park is lively with families, children, joggers, and people exercising. It is also known for its BMX motocross course, sports facilities, barbecue areas, cafés, and other amenities.
But according to local ghost stories, a certain part of this otherwise peaceful park is rumored to have a darker atmosphere after sunset. Some say it is one of Osaka’s more unsettling haunted spots.
Ghost Stories Around the Athletic Area
Oizumi Ryokuchi has many athletic play areas, and during the day they are full of children’s voices and activity.
At night, however, the mood is said to change completely. Around the athletic area, there are rumors of a male spirit wearing a black suit appearing in the darkness.
Some people describe it as the ghost of someone who was unable to move on, still wandering somewhere inside the park.
The Fountain Ghost
Inside the park, there is also a distinctive fountain. In summer, people reportedly gather near it to cool off.
Even this pleasant-looking spot has its own ghost story. According to rumors, some witnesses have claimed to see the spirit of a man hanging near the fountain.
The story says that, long ago, a man in a suit who had fallen into despair about his future took his own life by hanging. It is said that his ghost may still be wandering there, as if searching for someone to help him.
The Large Pond
Oizumi Ryokuchi also has a large pond, and this area has its own reported sightings.
The ghost said to appear near the pond is described as a spirit walking with a dog. According to the rumors, this figure has been seen more than once.
The Basement That Should Not Exist
There is also a strange story connected to a festival held at Oizumi Ryokuchi more than 30 years ago.
The person telling the story says they were around third grade at the time and went to the festival with neighborhood children. The festival had many stalls, and among them was a simple haunted house set up inside a large tent.
They entered the haunted house with a classmate and the classmate’s older sister. All three were elementary school students.
The storyteller does not remember every detail, but says that somewhere inside the haunted house, they found a staircase leading underground. They assumed that the stairs were part of the route and that the haunted house continued below.
They also saw an unfamiliar man going down the stairs, which made them feel as if they should follow.
But just then, the classmate’s older sister pulled them back and said there was nothing that way. Because of her, they did not go down.
At the time, the child felt confused. They could clearly see stairs going down, and it looked as if the haunted house continued beyond them. But they were still young, so they did not think too deeply about it and soon forgot the incident.
Years later, when they were in junior high school, the memory suddenly came back. They asked the classmate’s older sister about it.
According to her, there had been no staircase at all.
Even now, and even back then, there was supposedly no place in the park with stairs leading underground.
The storyteller says that when they think about what might have happened if they had not been stopped, they still feel a chill. It was not a terrifying experience in the moment, but it remains a mysterious and unsettling memory.
Visiting Oizumi Ryokuchi
During the day, Oizumi Ryokuchi is a bright, active park enjoyed by children, locals, and travelers. But in local ghost stories, the atmosphere after dark becomes something very different.
If you visit, enjoy the park safely and respectfully. Go during open hours, stay on public paths, do not enter restricted or unsafe areas, and avoid exploring alone at night. And if you ever see a staircase or passage that seems to lead somewhere it should not, it is better not to follow it.

大泉緑地は約200種類32万本の木が植えられていて、年中観光客や地元の人たちが集まる大人気スポットです。広大に広がる緑地公園で、昼間には家族連れや運動をする人たちで賑わっている中、一部死を呼ぶ自殺エリアがあると噂されているのです。今回は、そんな大阪でもガチで怖い心霊スポット「大泉緑地」について紹介していきたいと思います。大泉緑地とは。。冒頭でも紹介しましたが、200種類32万本もの木が植えられており、観光客や地元民が集まる憩いの場です。
昼間には家族連れや運動する人たちでにぎわっていいるのが特徴的です。BMX専用のモトクロスコースやスポーツ施設、BBQ施設、カフェ、等々たくさんの施設が備わっていることで有名です。大泉緑地の心霊現象。。アスレチック周辺の心霊現象。大泉緑地には多くのアスレチックがあり、昼間は子供たちの活気で溢れています。しかし、夜になるとその雰囲気は全く別物になり、雰囲気のある心霊スポットへ変わるのです。そのあたりには 黒いスーツを着た男性の霊が現れる と言われているのです。
成仏できなかった幽霊が今もなお公園内を彷徨っている とでもいうのでしょうか？。噴水の心霊現象。この公園内には特徴的な噴水が設置されており、夏になればその噴水の付近で集まり涼む人たちもいるそうです。しかし、こんな噴水でもとある心霊現象が報告されています。それは、 噴水付近でぶら下がっている男の霊を目撃 したというものです。かつて 未来に絶望したスーツ姿の男性が首つり自殺を図った そうです。今でもその幽霊が誰かの助けを求めて彷徨い続けている そうです。
公園の大きな池付近。この公園には大きな池があります。実はこの池付近でも幽霊の目撃情報が報告されています。出現すると言われている幽霊は 犬を連れた幽霊 でたびたび目撃されているんだとか・・・。大泉緑地の噂。。無い筈の地下。30年以上前のことですが、大泉緑地でお祭りがあり、近所の子供たちだけで連れ立って遊びに行った時の話。。当時私は小学3年生くらいだったと記憶してます。。お祭りでは、様々な露店が並んでいて、その中に大きなテントを張っただけの簡易的なお化け屋敷が有りました。
。私と同級生の子とそのお姉さんの3人で(全員小学生)そのお化け屋敷に入りました。。余り覚えて無いのですが、お化け屋敷の途中に地下に降りる階段を見つけたので降りようしました。。階段を降りた先がお化け屋敷の順路とゆうか続きだと思ったからです。それに、 見知らぬ男性も降りて行くのが見えたので、なんか行かなくちゃという気持ちになりました。。すると、同級生のお姉さんが 。『そっちには何もないで』 。と私の手を引っ張り、地下に降りることは出来ませんでした。
。下に降りる階段有るのに、その先にお化け屋敷の続きが有るのに見えてないのかな、と不思議に感じましたが、当時の私は幼かったこともあり、深く考えることもなく、直ぐにそのこと自体を忘れていました。。中学生になり、ふとそのことを思い出し、 同級生のお姉さんにその時のことを聞いたのですが、階段なんか無かった。とのことでした。。今でもその当時でも、公園内には地下に降りる階段は何処にも存在しません。。もし、あの時、止めてくれなかったら。。そう考えるとゾッとします。
