English Version

Miyazawa Lake in Hanno, Saitama, has gathered several unsettling rumors over the years. Some say that late at night, the sound of a young girl crying can be heard coming from the lake. Others claim that Kuchisake-onna, the “slit-mouthed woman” of Japanese urban legend, appears in the area. There are also stories of a ghostly passenger getting into taxis nearby.

The location is also connected to a real and tragic crime. On June 6, 1989, Tsutomu Miyazaki, the perpetrator of the Tokyo-Saitama serial child abduction and murder case, killed a five-year-old girl at Miyazawa Lake Cemetery and abandoned her body there.

The area is associated with Miyazawa, Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture. If visiting nearby public areas, go during appropriate hours, respect private property and cemetery grounds, and avoid entering restricted places.
