The Former Yamazaki Market Site in Okayama: A Rumored Nighttime Apparition

Haunted Museums in Japan? A Curator’s Strange Encounter with a Sword and Tea Bowl
目次

English Version

At night, some people claim to have seen the figure of a spirit standing motionless on this now-empty lot.

The site is said to have once held a building called Yamazaki Market, a structure that reportedly had the unmistakable atmosphere of an abandoned ruin. It has since been removed, leaving only the vacant ground behind.

The location is in Kanzaki-cho, Higashi Ward, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, along Prefectural Route 232.

If you visit the area, view it only from public roads or permitted spaces, avoid entering private property, and be especially careful at night near traffic.
