English Version

In the area around Haijima Bridge, there is a rumor about a young girl who appears in the middle of the road late at night, playing with a traditional temari ball.

According to the story, drivers who pass through the area sometimes believe they have struck the girl with their car. When they get out to check, however, there is no sign that anyone was hit—no body, no damage, and no trace of an accident.

One version of the rumor says that before World War II, construction work was carried out to widen a nearby cut-through in the road. During the work, a landslide allegedly occurred, and a young girl was buried alive.

The location is said to be around 4-22 Haijimacho, Akishima City, Tokyo. If you visit, do not stop in the roadway or create a traffic hazard, especially at night. Treat the area as an ordinary public road and stay aware of cars and local residents.
