English Version
The Keio Plaza Hotel in Nishi-Shinjuku is sometimes mentioned in urban-legend circles because of rumors about figures seen falling from the building. According to these stories, people have reportedly witnessed what looks like someone jumping from the hotel, only to find nothing at the spot where the person should have landed.
The hotel has also been connected to several real tragedies. On June 28, 1983, actor Masaya Oki died by suicide after jumping from the 47th floor. On October 8, 2004, two foreign men also died by suicide after jumping from the hotel.
There have been violent incidents as well. On October 3, 2008, a woman in her 40s was murdered in a guest room on the 19th floor. On May 24, 2012, an exchange student from Ireland was also killed in an incident connected to the hotel.
The hotel is located at 2-2 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. It is an operating hotel, so anyone visiting the area should respect guests, staff, and private spaces, and should not enter restricted areas or disturb the property.
