Shiroyama Park in Kagoshima is said to have a long list of ghost stories attached to it. Reported sightings include a ghost seen jogging through the park, a young girl with a bob haircut, and a woman in a white one-piece dress.
The park is also known as a fierce battlefield of the Satsuma Rebellion, which adds to its reputation among people interested in haunted places and historical tragedy.
Some visitors claim that spirit photographs are often taken here. According to local rumors, there was once a hanging suicide near the observation deck, and many sightings are said to occur around that area.
Other stories are also connected to the grounds. It is said that a foreign national’s body was once abandoned in a restroom on the property, and that another suicide occurred around the athletic or play area.
Shiroyama Park is located at 22 Shiroyamacho, Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. If you visit, treat the site as a public park and historic place: stay on marked paths, avoid restricted areas, and be respectful of other visitors and the surrounding neighborhood.
