Sugisawa Kobashi: Rumors of a Haunted Bridge in Yokote, Akita

Does the Tokugawa Buried Treasure Really Exist? Why Japan’s Lost Gold Still Hasn’t Been Found
目次

English Version

Sugisawa Kobashi is a small bridge in the Sugisawa Tsuruyachi area of Yokote City, Akita Prefecture.

Local rumors say strange things happen around the bridge. Some people claim that a man suddenly appears out of nowhere, while others say that road signs seem to move on their own.

There is also a story that, long ago, a woman died by hanging herself beneath the bridge.

These are only local rumors, but they have given Sugisawa Kobashi an unsettling reputation among fans of haunted places. If you visit the area, stay on public roads, avoid going under bridges or onto private property, and do not stop anywhere that could create a traffic hazard.
