Sannohe Tunnel, located in Tekurabashi, Gonohe Town, Sannohe District, Aomori Prefecture, is said to be a place where the ghost of a woman has been seen many times.
Some visitors also claim to have heard a sound like high heels clicking through the tunnel, even when no one else was there.
According to local rumor, a woman was once assaulted by a biker gang and abandoned in this tunnel. The story goes on to say that she later took her own life at a nearby shrine.
Because of that tragic tale, some believe the woman who met such an unhappy end was never able to rest, and that she may still be trying to make her presence known.
As with many haunted locations, these stories remain rumors rather than confirmed history. If you visit the area, be respectful of local residents and shrines, watch for traffic, and do not enter restricted or private property.
