English Version

Some people believe that when a person dies, they are born again. This idea is often called reincarnation or the cycle of rebirth. Of course, beliefs about death and rebirth vary widely depending on religion and country, and these stories are difficult to verify. Still, many cases have been reported around the world in which people seemed to remember a previous life.

One of the best-known researchers in this field was Professor Ian Stevenson of the University of Virginia in the United States. After investigating more than 2,000 reported reincarnation cases, Stevenson noted several patterns that appeared again and again.

Common Features in Reincarnation Reports

According to these reports, people who claim to be reincarnated often share certain traits:

  • They have images or memories of a previous life.
  • Their personality resembles that of the person they claim to have been.
  • They have physical marks, such as moles or birthmarks, in the same places where the previous person had wounds or distinctive features.

Children are often said to begin talking about past-life memories between the ages of about 2.6 and 4 to 6 years old. As they grow older, those memories reportedly fade little by little.

The Boy from India

In 1979, a boy named Giriraj Soni was born in a village in Madhya Pradesh, India. When Soni was around 2 years old, he suddenly began talking about memories from a past life.

“I am Subhan Khan,” he reportedly said.

Subhan Khan was said to have been one of the victims in a murder case that took place in a location called Alam in 1978. Soni had a mark on the back of his head, and Subhan was reportedly killed after being stabbed in that same area.

Soni was Hindu, but according to the story, he was able to recite Islamic prayers even though no one had taught them to him. Subhan Khan had also been Muslim.

The Boy Named Bongkuch

In 1962, a boy named Bongkuch was born in Thailand. When he was 2 years old, he suddenly began speaking about what he said were memories of a previous life.

He claimed that long ago he had been a person named Chamrat, and that he had been shot and killed on the day of a festival. He reportedly gave his own name, hometown, and even the names of his parents.

People around him were puzzled because the boy behaved in ways that were unusual for Thai children, and his food preferences were also different. Later, it was reportedly discovered that the shooting incident he described had actually happened, and that the name he gave for the killer matched the real case.

It was also said that some of the boy’s behavior was characteristic of Lao people, leading those involved in the story to believe that his previous life had been as a Lao person.

When the boy was very young, he spoke about his past-life memories. But at some point, those behaviors disappeared. As he grew up, the memories seemed to fade.

A Man Said to Have Lived Many Lives

Many people have heard of General Patton of the U.S. Army, a famous figure in history. He is also known in stories about reincarnation because he reportedly believed he had memories of past lives.

“I know this place,” he is said to have claimed.

According to these accounts, he could walk through towns and roads without relying on guides or maps. He also wrote about having once been an infantryman in ancient Greece and, in another life, a marshal who served Napoleon.

These supposed memories and past experiences are said to have shaped his courage and helped him fulfill his role as a commander.

Final Thoughts

What did you think?

The idea that reincarnation might actually happen is surprising, and these stories continue to fascinate people who are drawn to the mysterious side of life and death. Maybe we have all simply forgotten. Perhaps, somewhere deep in a corner of the mind, memories of a previous life are still quietly stored away.
