English Version

Takeoka Tunnel in Kagoshima City is said to be a place where accidents happen often. Details are unclear, but the tunnel has also picked up an unusual kind of rumor: people say that if you throw trash inside the tunnel, you may be cursed.

Above the tunnel is Takeoka Cemetery, a fairly large burial ground. It is also said that someone once died by hanging in the area. Directly above the tunnel, Takebe Shrine has numerous memorial monuments, which adds to the sense that this is a place with a strong spiritual atmosphere.

The reported area is around 4, Tagami 7-chome, Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. If you visit, be respectful of the cemetery, shrine, roads, and local residents. Do not litter, enter restricted areas, or stop in unsafe places.
