English Version

Old Honzaka Tunnel, located in Suse-cho, Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, is known in local rumor as a place where many female apparitions have been seen.

Witnesses have reportedly described the ghost of an old woman, a woman holding a baby, and a woman in kimono, among other female figures.

The road that once crossed Honzaka Pass was traveled by many women and became known as the Hime Kaido, or “Princess Road.” According to the legend, however, some women lost their lives while making the difficult journey over the pass. Their spirits are still said to appear in the area today.

If visiting, be cautious around old roads and tunnels, avoid entering restricted areas, and do not go alone at night.
